You're right, that probably helped my confusion. I've grown up in areas where the river systems are extremely simple things --- well, they've been tamed by centuries of development --- so any sorts of complications like, oh, multiple creeks and a river are going to mess up my internal count.

I should've taken out a map and figured out the geography of the place better, but there's always so many things to do, too.
