Panoramic view of the riverside near where Albino held its fireworks display. That's not anybody I know on the dock. To the right of the dock was a frog who was noisy enough before all the fireworks started.

And that's what the fireworks looked like. I didn't realize there were people watching from their canoes at night, but I guess that worked out for them.

And back at my parents-in-law they set off a whole mess of firecrackers in a tradition that is utterly alien to my way of thinking. I'm not saying it's wrong. I'm just used to not making things explode.

Come now, they weren't firecrackers; they were fountains.

Although come to think of it, my father and I did throw bang-snaps at each other, so I guess that counts as firecrackers. (Austin said "I didn't know you and your father were both 12-year-old boys.")

Ooo, that second shot turned out rather well! That unearthly lighting's what it's all about, of course.

I am reminded of the timeless words of wisdom from the guru, "Celebrate the independence of your country by blowing up a small piece of it!" (Did I mention Simon Singh came to town a few months back, for a "Mathematics of the Simpsons" presentation?)

I am, I admit, very unfamiliar with fireworks-related terminology. I haven't had the experience.

Glad you like. I am a sucker for any kind of difficult lighting conditions, to the point that it' obvious I'm just looking for trouble.

You hadn't mentioned that about Simon Singh. Neat.
