If I recall correctly...and pre-coffee, I don't trust my google-fu...The first Star Trek Movie was the result of a failed pilot for a second TV series after Paramount failed to start-up a television network of their own in the late 70's. I suspect this pinball was meant to be a tie-in with the new tv series rather than the resulting movie.
