A couple years ago bunnyhugger's father got the idea he wanted to see the Gilmore Car Museum, which we never heard of either. What we knew of it was it was an exhibit of something like 600 antique cars and for some reason he was eager to see it. He mentioned it occasionally, sometimes insisting it wouldn't even take two hours to see all the cars, as if that were plausible. Also at some point we got the idea there were only 400 cars to see. I gather it depends on whether there's shows going on. Anyway, this summer he mentioned it again and asked if we could go before the semester started. So, we finally did.
bunnyhugger thought this would be a good chance to show her father how much a cell phone, even a small smart phone like she has, could help with navigation. He's a nervous driver, in part for fear of getting lost, but refuses a GPS device. The idea was great, but along the way to Hickory Corners, Michigan, the phone got confused at a few points, thinking we were on the service street just a little over, and he freaked out at the car saying to make U-turns to get back onto the road he thought we already were on. Both of us repeatedly saying sometimes the thing gets confused and just give it a moment and it straightens itself out did not work, and now we fear he's never going to get any kind of navigational aid ever again.
And this is as far as I'd gotten writing. We were at a pinball tournament more of today than I expected, so, sorry. Will fill in the actual car museum story when I can.
Meanwhile back on the 5th of July we were in Santa Cruz and had just stepped off the Beach Boardwalk. But never fear, since with these pictures we are ...

Back on the boardwalk! Here you see the sky chair ride Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk has, and a photo station that's been renamed a Selfie Spot. Also you can see the Undertow roller coaster, in yellow on the upper deck there. The boardwalk is mostly a single level, with a couple of attractions built on the roof of others, including that coaster.

And now ... one of the two big specific attractions of the park, the Looff Carousel. Here's a figure in the sidewalk letting you know what's waiting for you there.

And this is the carousel, along with one of the three (three!) band organs they have to support it.

The carousel has a set of memorial plaques and here's the one that links to Floyd L Moreland, of the Seaside Heights carousel.

Here's a picture of one of the corners with memorial plaques, and some mirrors that let you see the carousel in an arty pose. Also carousel-like features to make the walls more interesting.

And here we are, bunnyhugger getting her first of many rides, almost all of them on the outside where she (and I) could try to grab the
brass steel rings!
