Plumbing "fun"

An old faucet set is no simple task. It is doable, but it is not simple. Ask Thena/Claire about the first time I had to replace the kitchen faucet set, which involved more than two hours to break the corroded brass nuts off while a steady stream of "plumbing words" shot out of my mouth while I laid on my back on pillows to be level with the under sink cabinet while fighting with those nuts.

The bathroom faucet set was a cake walk in comparison when the time came for that, along with swapping out the basement bathroom sink/faucet for a utility sink/faucet set.

I was sold a bad faucet set for the kitchen and claimed the warranty on it and then the replacement was worse and said more plumbing words while deciding never to buy that brand again (Glacier Bay or something like that) and swapping it for a more expensive Delta faucet. I'm hoping that's the last time I need to crawl under this kitchen sink.

Roughly ten..twelve years back we had the whole house shut-off valve replaced at the recommendation of our plumber. That took coordination with the public water supplier as they had to find our street-side shut-off valve and shut it off at the street so that could be done. Yes, find. It wasn't out in the street under the pavement as is usually the case around here. No, it was nearly under our front bushes in our front lawn. They replaced our water meter at the same time.
