Last week a young woman came to my apartment door selling theater tickets. Cornered as I was I bought one to tonight's performance of Fame. Today she happened to recognize me in the lobby (everybody recognizes me) and thanked me (again) for buying one, and wondered if I got any friends or family to attend. Since I can't do a thing without an odd event breaking out, I should log this: while wandering around an usher came up to me and asked if I was attending the play. (There was some other event in the center.) She explained I couldn't take my long-handled umbrella into the theater. So I got a claim check -- with three circles, one with an H, one with a TH (this was checked off), one with an O -- for my umbrella. After the show, they'd taken the tickets off the umbrellas so I had to guess which one was mine. This involved knowing details of my current umbrella, a subject I think about as much as you'd guess, but I'm pretty sure I ended up with the right one.

Curiosities abound around the performance. )
