In the third installment, ``The Enemy's Stronghold'', it turns out Rogers, Buddy, and Deering were not in fact killed.

( Chapter three. So far, Rogers isn't dead yet. His piloting skills are praised although I don't think what's been shown really supports that praise. Actually, I think the re-interpretation of things with Rogers the villain is not conclusively disproven as yet.  )
