Last weekend we figured to go up to our hipster bar for an hour or two of practice on the pinball machines and maybe get lucky and catch some of our friends there. We got up to the door and discovered they were closed, although some of the staff was there. One of the guys who sometimes tends bar gave me the neck-slashing symbol; the head bartender poked out to apologize and explain that the place was closed on Sundays now.

And that's a shock since who knew they were doing that? Heck, why would they do that? Sundays were slow, admittedly, compared to the nights they had shows or karaoke or game night or open mike night, but you can't be buzzing all the time, it seems like. They don't seem to have made a formal announcement of it either; the best we can find is that on their Facebook the first Sunday of March they posted they'd be closed today. We'd assumed it was just that day, since, wouldn't you? But they don't seem to have opened on a Sunday since then, and that just spoils the weekend day, doesn't it?

MWS pointed out that this means we were very wise, the day of that pinball golf tournament, to hang around Stella's all night until it closed instead of rushing back home so he could play his league makeup games: had we left early, we'd have gotten home to discover the bar was closed and we wouldn't even have an explanation. It would just have been a lousy anticlimax to the day. So, yeah, we were lucky on that count.
