Was very busy today with a fun thing that I'll write about when I have more than twenty minutes before deadline. (You know, I remember when I used to write these pieces from scratch starting at midnight and posting by about 20 minutes after, what happened?) Anyway, folks might be interested to know that the crazy guy who draws Dilbert decided to use one of his daily video chats to declare that Black people were a hate group, and now every newspaper in the world is dropping his strip, so, please know that at least one person who does bad things is coming to a bad end.

Now for a couple of pictures of ... pinball stuff, a league night and a Lightning Flippers women's tournament.

Spot of trouble on Game of Thrones here: five pinballs (possibly all the machine has?) jammed together on the right ramp, where they can't do anyone any good except keep us from having to play Game of Thrones.

And this little surprise hit just after the end of league night: the 007 pinball game, which has an Internet connection, started updating its code all on its own. Before now when the game needed ... 5.5 gigabytes of code patches and repairs ... the tech would have to stick a USB drive in but now? Apparently it'll just do that when it feels like and we're lucky we weren't playing the game for league that night. This patch coincided with the game no longer giving the warning about the game pending approval of the license holders, so I guess they were all right with a James Bond pinball game after all.

Vinyl banners that Stern Pinball has sent and that the bar has hung up without quite making it explicit that this is pinball stuff and they're a pinball bar. (On the other hand it's hard to miss since they have games stuffed everywhere there's electric power.) The banner between Godzilla and Rush is for Black Knight: Sword of Rage, the only game that's based on a pinball license rather than a band or movie/TV show.

January's mug for the women's tournament. [personal profile] bunnyhugger took this one home too, thanks to some great playing in the clutch.

During the tournament I played games on my own and had a really, really good game of The Addams Family. Including one ball where I had a bonus of, like you see, over 50 million, which is the highest bonus I ever attained. 20 million is a spectacular enough bonus that the game calls out your praise (Gomez Addams cries out ``WHO SAYS YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU?'')

Trivia: On two occasions in the 30s Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll asked White House permission to include pro-New Deal, morale-boosting messages for Amos 'n' Andy. The White House agreed. Source: Fred Allen's Radio Comedy, Alan Havig.
