You know what today's for? A bunch of pictures from our next thing, which was going into Detroit to see the Buggles. Also Seal.

Coming up on the Fox Theater, downtown, with the ballpark farther than just across the street but still not an uncomfortable walk away.

A look at Tigers Stadium or whatever they call it from where the roads were fenced off to manage traffic getting to the Buggles concert.

One key design element of the new Tigers stadium is all the petrified tigers, counterpart to the 9,999½ turned to stone by Mustafa of Mudge of Oz.

And here's the marquee of the Fox Theater, with a small crowd outside and getting in.

The main sign, promising Trevor Horn as the musical director and special guest The Buggles. They were overprimising just a little.

And now we look inside! Those are some of the largest altar candles I have ever seen.

A look at the opulent main lobby, and the stairs.

And here's the merch table, which looks about like you'd expect, although there was more Buggles stuff than you'd think. (Two models of T-shirt, bags, and even keychains and buttons.)

Here's just pointing the camera straight up to see details nobody has reason to see in detail. That's a lot of building.

You may wonder why the theater --- built in 1927 --- would have an organ at the far back of the theater and outside the audience settings. The answer is: it's a fake, the decoration of an organ.

Detail shot of some of the figures built into niches, figures so impressive to see you just hope they're not too racist.

And there's a side view of the stairs leading from the lobby up to the back of the theater. Look at all those lions.
Trivia: At the time the Erie Canal was proposed (at the end of the War of 1812), the United States had a total of about a hundred miles of canal total, with the longest 28 miles long. Source: The Epic of New York City, Edward Robb Ellis.
