The logjam at work seems to be broken. Last time you'll recall my direct supervisor was unwilling to let me go off and work at the new location because how could he supervise me from there? And before you answer ``the same way he does any work-from-home day'' remember that he's suspicious of work-from-home. And also that with this change I'll be not working for his department and not even in his building so I can understand feeling there's no way in which he's actually supervising me anymore.

So. What's happened is his grand-boss (or effectively his boss, since the guy he should report to has been out on medical leave for months) decided she would take the hit of being responsible for someone she couldn't actually see in person. For the moment, then, I'm notionally reporting directly to her, with her doing things like approving me taking time off for [personal profile] bunnyhugger's pinball championship tournament (approved, by the way) or whatever else I get up to. And I have authorization to join the big moving party tomorrow afternoon, moving everything from my current desk to the one I picked out a couple weeks ago.

My now-former-supervisor by the way won't be in tomorrow; he's working from home. I gather this is because of some carpooling issue (the guy he rides in with is also working from home) but it does add to my sense of ``huh?'' about all of this.

Now, photo-wise, I'm in a weird little lull of a couple miscellaneous bags of pictures. So please enjoy this jumble of stuff from back in July:

Mural at the Jersey Giant shop in Frandor. Which is striking to me for, among other things, being clearly based on Seaside Heights: if you look in the center right you can see a sign that's got to be Lucky Leo's arcade. It's slipping in Jersey Giant, which doesn't actually operate in New Jersey, and other references to local people as if they were out there but ... well, you see why I had to get a picture of that. Note the beams of light touching the giant sub.

The trophies for Rocket Robin, [personal profile] bunnyhugger's summertime pinball tournament. If you say that none of these birds are robins, I will say back: you find cheap in-scale robin figures before you talk. Anyway there's definitely rocket stickers on them so enjoy!

Here's some aftermath of the July windstorm that destroyed so many trees: disassembled trees from a backyard laid out on the street, ready for pickup.

We got off much lighter, again, with just a couple of self-organizing branches needing removal.

Back to pinball trophies! Here's the stuff you could have won if you were good enough at the end of season 18 of the Lansing Pinball League.

And here's a mug painted, and buttons made, by [personal profile] bunnyhugger for one of her Lightning Flippers women's tournaments.

PS: What's Going On In Judge Parker? Who is this 'Ann Parker'? November 2023- February 2024 gives you all the answers! It turns out Ann Parker used to be in the strip, but was last seen somewhere around early 1968.
