Ran out of time for everything today, owing to pinball league running abnormally late. So let me share some miscellaneous little things.
One is the dentist's. I had my semiannual checkup Monday and got shocking news: I have a cavity! It's in an annoying place, too, in the molar just ahead of one of my wisdom teeth. Also yeah, I have my wisdom teeth; I need all the help I can get. It's the first time I've had a cavity in decades. And I've had a lot of good luck with my teeth, especially for the late-grad-school/time-in-Singapore where my dental coverage was mostly ``I brushed''. So it's startling to see that interrupted.
Their best guess about how it happened was some food debris got caught in there and got stuck. And yeah, I floss, but it's a hard spot for me to floss well; those wisdom teeth go back a ways, you know? So, I'm scheduled to have that fixed on Thursday.
Also, coming up Wednesday? A new hire at work, the first person hired to program stuff since my group got moved to the new office. This makes my vague position of ``senior programmer'' material, giving me someone to be senior to. I'm not precisely sure what I'm to do to help them get up to speed on (waving hands) all this but will be trying to be pleasant and supportive.
They've also, I learn today, got a set of candidates to interview to be the project manager, the person running the stuff I'm working on. I can't say the last six weeks without a proper project manager have felt unproductive, so I guess we're a basically mature group, but I suppose it is necessary to have someone who knows just what I should be up to and when.
