I deeply admire your ability to own vehicles that defy the classificational universe of the Motor Vehicles agency. I've never managed to achieve that, although that's because up to the Scion I've bought the most generically average cars in the universe, including a 1988 Chevrolet Celebrity, which is actually produced by removing every distinguishing feature even from a late-80s car and seeing what you have left.
You'd think a car that didn't run would be given a wider margin on its worth over there, although I don't remember that Motor Vehicles here has cared what we wrote in as the price of a car. But the majority of car purchase transactions have been within-the-family, where they probably know it doesn't matter if Dad is selling the car for $100 to Son, because it's on Dad's insurance policy anyway.
