Regarding the Dr. Who movie... oddly enough just before seeing this posted a rant about another movie that was shown the same night as it was on TCM. (I actually told the TiVo to record three movies bracketing "Invasion 2150" that night, which we metered out one by one.)
So far as "Invasion" went, I think it sort of lost me when it showed that a couple angry cockney blokes can defeat a Dalek by flinging it down a wheelchair ramp. Dawn and I were also quite impressed by the sheer insanity of the Dalek's ultimate "extract the Earth's core with a firecracker and turn it into a spaceship" evil scheme. (Not to mention the ridonkulous-ness of the "magnetic anomaly" plot device used to defeat them.) As a general rule the "science" in Dr. Who is bad even by TV Sci-Fi standards, but... wow. Just wow.
