There is a lot to get lost in "Invasion" about, really. I was weirdly delighted by the idea of blowing up Daleks just by giving them a good shove. It's as though the whole invasion would collapse in the face of serious rough housing.
At least the movie did get back to comfortable Doctor Who grounds by making the menace be drilling into the center of the Earth. It wasn't quite a quarry, but at least it was conceptually nearby.
I forgive them for making the macguffin device of the film 'magnetic', since back in the 1960s they hadn't yet discovered 'quantum', a problem that Star Trek suffered from too.
