In the past 18 months, I switched over to Dreamweaver at work from (shudder) Frontpage as I maintain our group's website. I'm very thankful for the move over. That being said, DW is NOT the most user friendly software I've ever seen. It may be powerful, but not completely intuitive. There are still things I need to hard code in html 'cause it's easier for me to do it that way than try and get DW to do it.
So, not being able to figure out how DW does a link doesn't surprise me. For example, I still haven't figured out how to get it to insert "mailto:" into the html when doing an email link. So, I hand code it into DW's link bar at the bottom. There's probably someway DW can do it, but like I said, I don't have the patience to find it. It's faster to just type in the "mailto:" in the link bar and paste in the email address (which is highlighted that will become the link).
