Reminds me of the time I was stopped by someone - likely Japanese - wielding a microphone, flanked by a cameraguy, at Anime Expo. Seemed they were doing some feature on anime in the US - I was asked what my favorite series was, and why. (Evangelion, and I can't recall the reason. Still quite an excellent series. In a vaguely related theme, I'm currently reading one of Alan Moore's works, Promethea - rattling good fun, even if the pacing's sometimes a bit awkward, supported by some quite beautiful artwork)
