Protip for anyone running a fursuit parade: organization is critically important for this, because nobody in the parade has read the con book enough to see what the parade path is, and most of the people in it can barely see where they're going. You need people at every single point where the path goes from one enclosed spot to another, and every single point where the path of the parade turns, and especially at the point where the path crosses itself.
Anthrocon puts the parade route on an entirely separate sheet of paper from the conbook. It almost helps. We also moved our photo opportunity to the start of the parade, which seems to keep people together.
It sounds very first-year con, indeed. Hopefully they'll do the typical things that help a con on the second year: listen to feedback, organize better, and switch out a third of their staff.
