This reminded me of the encounter Tintin and the crew had with Adonis, in Explorers on the Moon. It's mentioned as having an orbit lying within Mars and Jupiter, which raised the small point of why they'd be encountering it on their way from Earth to the moon - but, whilst still an astounding coincidence, this page (http://www.aqua.co.za/assa_jhb/Canopus/Can2003/c03bLitU.htm) notes its perihelion lies within the orbit of Venus.
