Oh, wait. There was one more bit of family news last week, in that frightfully busy week. Fortunately it's not that traumatic a bit of news. It's just that my parents moved from their old apartment, the one we visited in January, to the new one.

They were moving to avoid a rent increase, reasonably enough. The new apartment is in a complex just across the major street from the old one, and it's another apartment with a view overlooking the pool. The pool had cracks in it, and my father reports they've just finished re-sealing the pool and that it should be swimmable in the next couple days. My father also reports that in the new apartment they're able to switch to a local cable company that's apparently among the most highly regarded in the country.

The sad thing about this is that the day they picked up their new apartment's key, to start actually moving stuff, they also found that the woman in the apartment next to them had died. Heck of a way to start moving in.

Trivia: On the first day of sale for bonds in Ferdinand de Lesseps's Panama Canal company, a false telegram report announcing de Lesseps' death went from Paris to every major provincial city, London, and New York City. Its origin is unknown. Source: The Path Between The Seas: The Creation Of The Panama Canal, 1870 - 1914, David McCullough.

PS: Playful Mathematics: Sweet Add-A-Line, a bit of extremely light mathematics since it's just a pinball table I wanted to point out.
