And now, pictures of the results of some pinball league finals:
bunny_hugger taking first place in the B Division playoffs at Marvin's Marvellous Mechanical Museum. Also depicted: MWS, in the middle there, in A division. Yes, those are animatronic crows from Chuck-E-Cheese's in the top center of the picture.
bunny_hugger with the third-place trophy in B Division for Lansing League. She was robbed of at least second place. Terrible story.
What I got in Lansing League playoffs. I'm content with it.
Meanwhile! My humor blog. That's been going on daily. Have you been reading it daily? If you've missed it lately, then you can catch up easily by reading:
- That Moving Spirit, last week's major piece, inspired by real-life events involving real-life friends. Of me, even.
- A Last Look At Betty Boop’s First Boyfriend, of how Bimbo exited this world.
- Statistics Saturday: Why There’s Not Commodore Computers Anymore, and the answer is complicated but it might involve bees.
- Statistics May: Or, Statistics April, Continued Again, how my readership did in May on the humor blog. There's a mystery at work.
- Robert Benchley: What, No Budapest? A follow-up to Movie Boners based on an angry reader's letter.
- And second? based on quirky news out of Russia.
- Statistical Insight from the new WordPress statistics page, which I hate.
- After Our Rabbit’s Holiday, this week's major piece. No, you haven't missed what his holiday was about.
If you want to read it daily, you can add it to your Friends page or you can add it to your RSS feed. Or you can just read the web site, too. There's always that.
Trivia: Flubber, as used in 1961's The Absent-Minded Professor, was played by a mixture of salt water taffy, yeast, polyurethane foam, cracked rice, and molasses. Source: The Genie in the Bottle, Joe Schwarcz.
Currently Reading: Count Belisarius, Robert Graves.
PS: Reading the Comics, June 11, 2015: Bonus Education Edition, mathematics comics plus a grammar and a general teaching joke, because I liked them.

Date: 2015-06-13 07:41 am (UTC)The crows look super cool... but I wondered are they in a current show that can be seen there? They are a bit small in the picture so I can't see them too well. Also got a lol about the ribbon in the final picture... who knew they even made them ribbons! ... Some might say them's fightin' words!.... (although generally taken in the joking spirit it was intended... hopefully)... heh.... although seems like every time I go to a Christmas secret santa gift exchange, most of it is playful... but inevitably someone gets too serious and upset when they lose their chosen gift... so... sometimes a fraction of people don't take things in stride.... All that said.. LOL!... Glad the event was fun, no matter how it ended, a fun ride!

Date: 2015-06-15 08:59 pm (UTC)There's a lot of working animatronics at Marvin's, but alas, the birds aren't among them.
The Loser ribbon was commissioned by our league president, when he went to the trophy shop. The owner --- who's helped figuring out just the right trophies for silly things like the Zen Tournaments in the past --- was delighted by this one. And it's the sort of league where that's just the sort of thing all the non-winners can get and nobody feels slighted.

Date: 2015-06-13 02:03 pm (UTC)Rather nicely dramatic winners photo, too, with that wide perspective. That's the kind of thing I've really enjoyed with the Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 - at its widest, it's something like a 140 degree field of view, with a surprisingly small minimum focus distance.
Thoroughly digging

Date: 2015-06-15 09:03 pm (UTC)I'm glad you like the winner photos too. I only have a basic consumer camera, but I have learned if I stand at anything but normal eye level I get a decent picture. Also Marvin's is such a packed and crowded place there's little choice but to take a wide-perspective photo if you want to get four people in view at once.
