I don't wish to further alarm anyone who might expect the imminent end (in select countries) of the planet Earth, but at Suntec City is a children's Scrabble tournament. At least there's evidence of a Scrabble tournament, such as many wood-veneer plastic desks lined up and signup sheets. Contests are to start from 10 am the next couple of days; by the time I was there yesterday it was over for the day. This is the time-limited version of Scrabble, too, though there's as yet no sign of Chuck Woolery.

This naturally brings up something from the web log of Merle Kessler, the writer/performer behind Ian Shoales and participant in the Duck's Breath Mystery Theater. He -- almost the definition of a cult celebrity -- mentions an Ottawa Sun article identifying as celebrity bloggers Britney Spears, David Duchovny, Bruce Willis, Rosie O'Donnell, and Pat Sajak. I'm naturally, but not excessively, curious what Pat Sajak might have to write about in his blog; all I can imagine is the recounting of tedious arguments with shallow pedants about making Y invariably a consonant or the lame quality of puzzle categories added after 1985. I suppose I'd like to ask if he still remembers the whole ``Once you buy a prize, it's yours to keep'' spiel, but he probably gets asked that a lot, since the show hasn't been as good since they stopped buying prizes.
