Needed background for this dream: In The Price is Right's Dice Game, contestants roll a die for the final four digits of a car's price. If the roll doesn't equal that digit, the contestant calls whether the digit is lower or higher than the roll. If all four are correct, the contestant wins the car. Except for a short time after the game was introduced decades ago the digits are from one through six, inclusive.

So. I dreamed I was watching the Dice Game. The contestant rolled a 1 for the first digit -- as good as a match -- and then a 5 (a match), a 4 (lower again), and a 3 (higher, even though 1's and 2's show up often here). Bob Barker revealed, of course, the first and second digits were right, but the third and fourth digits were zeros, so he lost on the last number.

Well. The contestant was disappointed, but the audience was livid. Bob was apologetic but insisted zeroes were valid, so ... This must have been a special event; the seats weren't the usual ones (more like bleachers) and the car was $42,500, about $20-25,000 above normal. I think it was one of those trucks they pretend isn't an SUV to avoid any shred of environmental regulation.

Afterward and still grumbling I ran into Bob Barker, and took no joy from that (!), though he pointed out the contestant was fine, and perhaps I shouldn't be so personally outraged over someone else's honestly minor injustice. Wise words, but the guy was still gypped. They should've said zeros were a possibility, especially after rolling that 1. I think he made it to the Showcase. Then I woke up, and went in to the office.

In spam those marketing folks offered an iBook for my opinions. You'd think they'd have tried the iPod Shuffle before moving into the serious hardware.

See how much space stupid pop culture rents inside our heads?

I, for my part, will probably die at 112 still knowing most of the words to MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This," however hard I try to scrub it from my brain.

But it is intriguing that you dream in specific numbers. I don't even pump gas in specific numbers.

Mighty strong talk coming from the co-star of the last dream I remembered well enough to write down ... I don't remember that MC Hammer's song had any words other than ``You can't touch this,'' repeated a billion times.

I'm not convinced I dreamed the specific numbers, but I know I dreamed the ``4'' to start and I know I dreamed the relationships between the numbers, if that makes any sense; they're easier to see.

No, there are a lot of other words, mostly about how and why you can't touch this.

I suppose that makes sense. I am not mathematical and do not dream numerical relationships--but I've dreamed up new songs, before, and woken up unaware of which chords they were but aware of their relationship to each other, sort of.

Weird; I'd have sworn the song was all ``doo-doo-do-doo, dah-doo-dah-doo CAN'T TOUCH THIS,'' repeat one billion times.

Maybe it's just easier to see how things relate to one another in dreams than it is to remember specifics. There's people who assert mathematical and musical ability are tied together, which makes me feel mighty awkward about my own lack of musical ability; I'm not even that good at listening to music.

I showed enormous mathematical interest and aptitude, as a hatchling. My mother still talks about my adventures learning fractions as a toddler, in the bathtub with measuring cups, or of my announcing at age 3 that "there are six threes in eighteen" and such.

Something that happened in elementary school killed my interest. Although I've always heard the same thing about music and math, and I wonder if my lifelong interest in playing music is the ghost of that childhood aptitude, still hanging around.

That is a great time for killing interest in mathematics; unfortunately particularly once you get into long division and the hints of algebra there's a focus on the rules and procedures of things, and forgetting the point of things. People who really grok mathematics don't get to do much teaching at those levels, to everyone's loss.

Perhaps coincidentally it was just after elementary school that my interest in playing music diminished. The only objectively observable event I can tie this to is going to a new school where I was demoted from First Violin to Second Violin, but I remember thinking the rather less shallow reason that while I was all right in playing most of the notes on schedule, I was just following procedures (I'm gifted in procedures) rather than playing music, if you get that difference.

Shrinking you...

Okay lets see what could this dream mean coming from your subconscious,... (puts on the spectacles).

Dice game represent random elements the fact that the first digit was a four (which is bigger than the usual number) could mean whatever you're thinking about is bigger than usual.
Or it could correlate to four different things. Its very important to use the first thing that comes to mind when talking about dreams though still your subconcious may rear something even when you make it more logical. Even though the raw info may not neccesarily be intelligble the words are sometimes plays on words.

For example I had a dream of transformation where someone was turned into a gray horse, later on I made the logical analysis that the old gray mare ain't what she used to be, albeit the horse was actually a stallion. Still it is more obvious to understand your subconcious when you let it get free. Anyway back to your analysis...

"Good as a match", now you weren't thinking of burning down the "Price is Right" after the injustice were you? Each number may correlate to something but it is the last number that is probably another strong factor. Since it was the only thing that deprived the person of the vehicle. Now how do you visualize the vehicle, what does a vehicle/SUV mean to, does it mean freedom to go anywhere you want? If so perhaps you are being deprived of that opportunity by factors outside of your control hence the 'O' It was unexpected that it could be a zero and outside of the parameters.

We then go to the contestant, the contestant himself does not mind they lost they are dissapointed (additionally you mentioned that its typical for a 1-2 appear in the last digit so the zero is just a little out of place). The audience however is livid, so they are upset. So perhaps you are represenative of the audience (since you weren't the contestant).

Now you also describe the audience as being on bleachers instead of on the regular seats. Bleachers usually represent some sort of outdoor/sport event and some movie theaters or could represent differing views (from bottom to top). There is a reason for the bleachers but what is it, depends on how you think of bleachers.

Now we actually find you in the picture, like the audience you're rather frustrated when you run into Bob Barker since you take no joy. Bob asked you to look outside the box the contestant wasn't unhappy with results. When Bob Barker told you that as well you didn't describe how you felt, were you upset with what he said some more or did you say it still sucks but effectively walk og.

Perhaps something has frustrated you and you should let go, or perhaps if you believe dreams look into the future that something like that may come up.

Anyway extrapolate what you like. I only tell you waht your symbols may mean.

Well, I don't know that there's actually anything to take away from the dream other than a few images that pulled themselves together shortly before waking up. If I were to guess at its meaning, or assign it one, it'd be my subconscious reminding me that I can't take every cruelty or injustice in the world personally, and I should limit my rage to things that are actually related to me, or that I can affect, or that are honestly big enough to be worth the anger.

I haven't been particularly frustrated lately, not beyond the ordinary course of events at least. It's been a pretty routine week like that apart from the long-haul travel.
