I don't know this with absolute certainty but I'm expecting a ate night at pinball tonight. It's the eighth and final meeting of the season, and the last chance for people to affect their standings or, for some, to qualify for finals (which requires playing at least four nights in the eight-night season). Because we play a set group of games, a large number of people showing up causes the night to drag on; we need time for everyone to play. The rest of the season we handle that by splitting the group and have one play this night's games and the other group play the next night's, but you see why that won't work here.

And the games include some long-playing ones, or at least potentially long-playing ones. Attack From Mars, for example, which a good player who's practiced on it recently could play forever. The thing is our best players don't practice on it much because, by modern standards, the rule set isn't deep enough to stay challenging. All right, but still, someone's going to hit ten billion points, I bet you. And other games: Tales of the Arabian Nights, similarly one a practiced player can go on forever. Jersey Jack's Guns N Roses, which people are less experienced on but which has lots of multiballs, even by Jersey Jack standards, and so can go on forever. (The goal of the game is to play whole songs, so between how long the concert version of anything is and how long it takes to start one up, wow.)

Add to that about half the players have to make up a game that broke down last time and there's an excellent chance we're going to be there until Friday.

Again no pictures; no time. Maybe Saturday.

Trivia: The month of March was, on the Teuton calendar as used by the Angles around AD 725 (as recorded by the Venerable Bede), known as Rhedmonath. Source: Mapping Time: The Calendar and its History, EG Richards.
