Happy anniversary, dear
bunnyhugger.
Our ninth year married, and our thirteenth together, has felt like no other year I could imagine. It's been an odyssey, too much happening while we could do nothing, everything to want to do while nothing has been possible. It's been one of incredible stress and I don't know how I could have done better. I wish I had known how and hope I will never need to know again.
But it has been time, put upon us with an intensity we could never imagine. Our experience is set almost as if framed by anniversaries, with the pandemic reaching us just past our relationship-anniversary the end of February last year, perhaps finally receding with our marriage-anniversary today. And I am grateful we come through all this time wanting the more time together.
Trivia: James ``Deacon`` McGuire (who played from 1883 through 1912) was among the first catchers to put a raw steak inside his glove to protect his left hand. He caught for 1,611 games, a major league record until 1938. He reportedly was never fined or ejected from a game. (Wikipedia notes that McGuire, before becoming a ball player, was an apprentice in an iron foundry in Albion, Michigan.)
