Got a full week of mostly original stuff on my humor blog. Also the closing out of one of my dumbest Statistics Saturday threads in a long time. I didn't actually get yelled at by anyone over it, so I suppose it was amusing enough. Anyway, here's what you missed, if you missed it:

Here, please enjoy some pictures of Sunshine.

Here she sinks into her own dewlap.

And while she naps, she gives half an ear's worth attention to me.

Here she is in her favorite place, underneath the coffee table. She's interested enough in the flash photography to give me two ears.

SAM_7464.jpg

Without the flash, she'll turn an eye toward me. It's even her less-bad eye.

There's a good reason that Sunshine's food dish is labelled 'DOG', but we don't know what it is.

With the closer photograph you can see just how severe the cataract in her left eye is.

Trivia: Near Montana's Triple Divide Peak --- where the Continental Divide and the Laurentian Divide meet --- is the Atlantic Creek, waters from which do ultimately flow into the Gulf of Mexico and thus the Atlantic Ocean. Source: Atlantic: Great Sea Battles, Heroic Discoveries, Titanic Storms, and a Vast Ocean of a Million Stories, Simon Winchester. There is also a Pacific Creek and a Hudson Bay Creek.

Currently Reading: The Last Million: Europe's Displaced Persons from World War to Cold War, David Nasaw. So you know how, when you encounter something incredibly and pointlessly stupid in American history, it turns out the explanation is ``racism''? Yeah will in European affairs the answer is ``Jew-hatred''. And boy is there something powerfully aggravating in white, Christian administrators talking about how the survivors of the Holocaust are being all whiny and entitled with their desire for, like, food and a place where they aren't going to be murdered. And cross that with the Anti Communist Paranoia Whether It Makes A Lick Of Sense Or Not. (Soooo many racist Senators, but I repeat myself, determined that the people who'd been in displaced persons camps for years, refusing to return to Communist-led homelands, were secret Communists, and the fact that nobody could find evidence of this proved how good they were at the secrecy.) (Now, granted, there is a fair argument that it wasn't known how many of these people were refusing repatriation because they were fascists, or fascist collaborators. But to act on that base would require a strong anti-fascist streak in American politics.)
