Mathematics blog: I have one. Here's the writings on that little wall.

Here's a bit more of the Tannenbaum Farms.

Inside their main building, a gift shop where we got some doughnuts and hot chocolate. Before the pandemic they'd also have a Santa for photographs. I suppose they didn't have one this year since there wasn't a sign saying he was on break and would be back.

This seems to be the same picture as above except that you can see one of the two trees they decorate with stuff you can just take off and buy; one year we got some white garlands that help fill out bare spots on our trees.

[personal profile] bunnyhugger pointing to the tag of her cousin who designs the dolls on that sled. He's apparently well-regarded in the doll community for his designs.

The terrible remains of the War on Christmas. Also, the Fraser fir lot we had always gone to in the past; we had to go to one rather farther away this year.

Dogs are frequently brought along by tree-cutters and it's always happy seeing them, because dogs, sure, but also because they are so blissed out at having such a great new terrain to smell.

[personal profile] bunnyhugger taking some quick notes in her study of the tree. (Yes, yes, yes, she's really getting her camera out, but holding the hot cocoa cup like that sure makes it look like she's jotting something down.)

Trivia: In July 1863 John Henry Pepper arranged to have his Ghost Illusion used at the Theatre Chatelet in Paris, for the play ``Le Secret de Miss Aurore''. The producers paid him 20,000 francs for the secret of the partial-reflection technique. Source: Hiding the Elephant: How Magicians Invented the impossible and Learned to Disappear, Jim Steinmeyer.

Currently Reading: The Last Million: Europe's Displaced Persons from World War to Cold War, David Nasaw. Not sure which would be better for American life altogether: going a decade without the racists being involved in government, or going a decade without the anti-Communist paranoiacs being involved in government. I'd take either, mind you, but it's hard to guess what would make the bigger positive effect on the life of every single person in the world.
