Merry Christmas, darling [personal profile] bunnyhugger.

Tuesday we got [personal profile] bunnyhugger's brother from the airport. His return to Michigan after two years was scheduled without asking us about it, and forced [personal profile] bunnyhugger to reschedule a day she was planning to work at the bookstore. Rescheduling would have some knock-on effects, as it cheated her of time she'd needed to finish grading. She'd even have to bring some grading to the airport and to her parents' home to finish up. But she did manage that without having to stay up technically speaking all night.

We got off to the airport late, because of the fish emergency. We figured to get to Preuss pet store for the antibiotic Melafix and for other hospital-tank supplies. But we left so early the store wasn't open yet. There was just a guy shadow-boxing or something in the parking lot, who called out to us how the place wasn't open yet. He explained he'd been hoping to use the bathroom, since there's nowhere with a public restroom in that part of town. [personal profile] bunnyhugger expressed surprise that there wasn't one in the Speedway gas station across the street, a compassionate way of letting him know about the bathroom if he actually didn't know and letting him know we figure he's up to something if he did. He admitted he knew about that bathroom but ... ??? ?? ?????.

But we thanked him and as we tried to pull out of the parking lot he came over and asked if we could give him a ride to Sparrow Hospital. Thing is the only practical way out is a one-way street that takes you not to the hospital but a good bit closer and I couldn't think of a way to say ``of course not''. Or of a good specific reason to say no. Mercifully he admitted he understood if we found this sketchy and we nodded and drove off. [personal profile] bunnyhugger's brother agreed, this sure sounded like he was setting up for a series of one-more-little-favor nonsenses. Still, credit to him for giving the out of admitting this looked like what it looked like.

And here's the last pictures from walking around the neighborhood that considerably warm day last week.

House that's decorated the garage and set the Christmas tree where we can't miss it.

And here's one with icicle lighting underneath the gutters, which probably looks really great when the rooftop snow is melting and turning into icicles.

House seen from across the street, a little farther away than I wanted to go walking, which is why you see so much of Kalamazoo Street in it.

And again I guess my hand twitched as I was photographing and I got an effect I'm happy with anyway.

Trivia: One etymology for the word ``humbug'' claims it derives from Hamburg's reputation as a prolific source for inaccurate political rumors in the 19th century, with ``a piece of Hamburg news'' being a proverbial expression for false stories. However, ``humbug'' has meant ``hoax'' or ``to delude'' since no later than 1750. Source: Off The Map: The Curious Histories of Place-Names, Derek Nelson.
