Long, heavy, boring rains today; well, it's monsoon season. So much for taking a perfectly reasonable responsibility-free day trip to the zoo. I ended up looking for things to buy as Christmas presents, which won't be easy.

I also finally got to see The Incredibles -- at, I'll note, an Eng Wah Cinema which did not see any need to put any commercials on before the movie -- and, well, I'm awestruck. I think we have to start considering the prospect that Disney is deliberately sabotaging the trailers to Pixar movies in the hopes of keeping them from going off to another distributor.

There were only a few false notes to me (Edna Mode's telegraphing of the end with her ``no capes'' rant; Dash, finally freed of the push to hide his talents, being urged to finish second in the school race; that kind of thing), but overall -- never mind that it's a marvelous story well-told and excellently directed. Look at the graphic design of the place. Listen to the music. It's a world that never quite existed, not all at once, but it's gorgeous, all around. Even the horrible cubicle office and cubicle suburbs are beautiful to watch. Every frame of this movie is appealing to the eye and ear in a way few things are.

I can't understand the people who left before the credits were over. What sort of person wants to hurry away from that?

It's truly a dissapointment to me, as well, that I haven't seen "Duck, Rabbit, Duck" since I've entered my viverrid-self-connection phase.

Oh, well, it's on the Golden Age of Looney Tunes DVD set, which is maybe the most awesome collection assembled to date. Cartoon Network Singapore likes to run the three Bugs-Daffy-Elmer shorts together for the occasional Looney Tunes Show, which ... kind of wears out their separate joy.

On the movie, again: "No Capes", my sister saw coming early on, but I thought it was a good foreshadowing.. but the rant could've been 5 seconds shorter. Superhero death gags were just too many.

The only off note in my mind was Mirage switching sides far too rapidly, in my mind...

Those, like me, who had to hustle to the restroom. Though I came back for the rest of the credits. I always watch the credits unless I'm in a group which is eager to pull me away.

Even with credits in flexing perspective like that? (Granted I was sitting up close to the screen so perspective was a little off for me.) I've literally never seen that before, and it brought a great animation to an otherwise static list. Never mind the stylized recap of the movie, too.

I stick around to the end, which is quite against the Singaporean way. At Spider-Man they just chopped off the last bit of credits, let the screen go blank, and turned on all the house lights. Very rude.
