Final show: a 5.5 hour bhangra show that was only 6.5 hours long.

Among my final achievements this season, discovering as I hoisted the last of many garbage bags into the dumpster that the bag was leaking coffee. My last achievement was ducking to the men's to wash my hands, discovering someone had plugged the sinks and turned on the taps, and stopping the flood in time.

Jerry's romance with the brilliant, beautiful, eccentric Selena is book-ended with death: first, Selena's husband's, then Jerry's.

To Walk The Night by William Sloane
The set and costume designers heard about blue-and-orange color schemes and just decided to run with it. I swear, they bought out everything blue in the store. Even the post-its are blue! And what isn't blue or teal is orange, or tan, or gold.

Three books new to me, all fantasy (Although the Stross is an edge case), and only one is clearly part of a series.

We’ve got two girls! Thanks, Chris and bunnies Ale and Oates! Chris writes, “Oats and Ale had there wellness check up yesterday. We knew Oats was a girl, but we didn't know what Ale was. It's a girl. We have bun sisters. As you can see, they are in near perfect loafs. They have a date to get fixed Wednesday July 16. I hop you all have a bunderfull day.”

How is it that we literally are talking on the internet, we have access to all the information, and people are still saying whatever bullshit they made up in their heads instead of taking a minute, a second even, to ask themselves "Wait! Is this even true?"

On a happier note, the newest episode of The Strange Case of the Starship Iris answered a question I thought we'd never get answered, which is "How on earth did Brian get a price on his head from three different mafias?" and - wow, beware the quiet ones, I guess.

I had my annual Wednesday. Blood tests were mostly acceptable, with the usual exceptions: high PSA and Lyme. I’ll see my urologist at the end of July, sooner if the numbers cause him concern; I will definitely go for a biopsy this year, regardless. I started on the doxycycline today, for the Lyme, and I got my knees X-ray’d for arthritis; my NP read the report and believes, as did I, that my knee issues are from a past Lyme infection. An Orthopedic visit will be mid-July.

I love this Richard Scarry pic!

Our heat wave ended! Temps have gone from 97°F down to 75°F during the day. It’s currently a lovely 64°F outside :o) Fireflies had been extremely active in the higher temps, but there are still plenty out this evening.

This looked cute :o) The only AC we have is in our vehicles.

The truck has been running okay with that stored gasoline I put in. Today, during errands, I topped off the tank with seven gallons of fresh fuel, just to even it out.

Lastly, I’ve been watching some of those click-bait YouTube videos about old songs and artists. “Forgotten songs from 1971” “Worst bands of the 60’s” “Top songs from 1969” and the like. Some of these videos are pretty good, but most are too subjective and filled with nonsensical ‘insights’ by the posting person. *sigh* The good videos take me back, remembering the lovely music and what was happening at the time it was popular.

I mentioned back in introducing “The Evil Eye” my belief that Robert Benchley believed in the equality of humans. The piece for today, “Isn’t It Remarkable?”, is one of my evidences. It starts with a bit of mild praise, and Benchley picked up on the patronizing and sneering implication. You’ll see. On a recent page … Continue reading "Robert Benchley: Isn’t It Remarkable?"

Happy news, folks! We are at last beginning the final and shortest book of Stephen Tramer and Thaddeus Boyd’s The 72 Hours Saga, an old Sonic the Hedgehog flavored fan fiction in which the universe does not get destroyed! Or maybe it does. I forget how it ended and you know how those Late 90s … Continue reading "MiSTed: The 72 Hours Saga, Part 46"
And don't even ask me about my email!

Also: Comicsrss got a cease and desist from Gocomics, so now all my gocomics feeds are borked. I should see if I can find those comics hosted somewhere else and get their RSS feeds, but ugh.
